Our Mission
Members of Cleveland’s Slovenian American community—the largest such group outside of Slovenia—are the privileged inheritors of a legacy not only of artistic and literary artifacts, but also of compelling stories of migration, struggle, achievement, and belonging.
The Slovenian Museum and Archives is a nonprofit (501c3) organization whose mission is to tell these stories in all their richness and diversity, sharing them in sophisticated, interactive ways. We provide educational, cultural, and literary programming for all ages, and our facilities include an archives, reading room, and both temporary and permanent exhibition space. In conjunction with the Center for Slovenian Studies at Cleveland State University, we support the work of historians, researchers, students, and genealogists.
Partner Organizations
The Slovenian Museum & Archives works hand in glove with the Slovenian National Home—we’re both part of the same family of organizations that includes the Slovenian Genealogy Society International—and also, importantly, with the Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia in Cleveland.
