Cleveland Kurentovanje
First held in 2013, Cleveland Kurentovanje is a program of the Slovenian Museum and Archives that is organized and run by an extraordinary team of volunteers.
In our city, Kurentovanje—which is pronounced koo-rehn-toh-VAHN-yeh—is a multi-day "Slovenian Mardi Gras" party that celebrates the end of winter. It’s filled with cultural and social events, and culminates in a day-long Parade & Festival on Saturday complete with costumes, ethnic food and drink, musical and cultural performances, and Kurents—mythical creatures who are believed to chase away winter and welcome in spring.
